After Bergman
– A screenwriting grant for nordic talent
Screenwriting was at the core of the creative work of Ingmar Bergman. The After Bergman grant is intended to emphasize the role of the written script in the filmmaking process.
Nordic filmmakers are welcome to apply with feature film or drama series projects. The grant includes writing residency at the Bergman estates with access to a story consultant.
The grant is given to a film maker with a project inspired by the works of Ingmar Bergman and that has a contemporary style or theme. The winner is announced at the Bergman Week.
What is included in the grant?
Writing residency for two weeks at one of the Ingmar Bergman estates, travel costs to and from Fårö by ferry, story consultation, rental cars for local transport, 5000SEK Per diem/week. The winner is obligated to participate in the program of the coming years Bergman week and present their work. Travel and accommodation is included.
Criteria for applications.
Nordic film makers can apply with their first or second feature film or drama series project. The project has to be linked to an established producer (that has produced at least one feature or drama series project)
The application must include:
A personal letter (maximum 1 page) where the application is described, an in depth project description, synopsis, treatment, a producers vision. Resumé on both film maker and producer and a screenplay, timeframe and finally budget.

Deadline for applications 2021 will be presented in spring the same year.

After Bergman is produced by the Bergman estates, Bergman centre, Film Capital Stockholm, Film on Gotland and the Swedish church. The jury consists of representatives from these organisations.
